Marriage Monday - Honoring My Husband

Let me start by telling you that this is the SECOND post I have typed for this weeks challenge update. The first one was to tell you how I was doing all right for a few days when suddenly I failed miserably. Yes, Satan reared his ugly head in our lives. He really hates this challenge and was trying to very sneakily thwart my efforts. Oh no you don't!!!!!

I see from just from reading some other's posts that I'm not alone. This makes me feel a little better. Why don't you get to read that former post? Well, because it wouldn't be uplifting and respectful and in posting it... I would pretty much be feeding that same evil. So... WIPE MY SLATE CLEAN!!!! I must remember my theme verse:

Ephesians 4:29: "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."

After some venting (to Christine) I found myself lost in the arms of my Love, thankful for him, and ready to pick up and move on. We have had a lovely day. We went to church and I was able to feel the depth of his heartfelt prayers during the service. Ahhhh... how lovely that is. I did not need to expose what had gone wrong. He repented without a push from me. I forgave immediately. Let's move on now.

So what will I be focusing on this week? I liked Christine's question "What do people learn about God from looking at my marriage?" Hmmm... Good question. Maybe I should ask some of my friends and family what they learn from being exposed to us. Interesting topic. A week or so ago, I ran into a couple of friends bantering back and forth about how their husbands drive them crazy. They still probably don't realize that they were painting their One and Only as not a very pretty picture. The Lord says that we are to wear our spouse as our crown. What exactly does that mean? I would assume that I should feel honored and privileged to be Keith's wife. I should show him off... talk well of him... and praise him for his goodness. I shall endeavor to only speak what is true and good of my husband this week.

Just to give myself a head start: My husband is a kind and gentle man. He is soft spoken and generous. While I am a very organized and structured person, he tends to be more adventurous -- we are a perfect blend for each other. He makes a killer cup of coffee. He rubs my feet, or my back, or my shoulders... whatever I ask. He is a romantic at heart. He appreciates me and lets me know it. His a veteran of the US Army. He has traveled to many countries. He works hard and loves his job. Likewise he is good with construction type projects - rather a perfectionist. He is very smart. He graduated from college Cum Laude! His knowledge of biblical history (and all other types of history) amazes me. He has a way of explaining things to me in a way that I can understand without making me feel stupid. Lastly for today, he has a dip in his shoulder that God made just for me to lay my head and cuddle with him.

WOW! I'm impressed that you deleted your first post, as it was not uplifting or respectful. Bravo!

You may have read my post and saw that I failed miserably, but wanted to share my hardships in clear view. Thankfully, in the end I do give it all to Jesus!

I'm taking your lead and will speak highly of my hubby next week. What a great way to uplift him, and remind myself of why I love him so much.

I really like how you ended your post with uplifting your Love. We should have one of our challenges be our taking the time to uplift our husbands and then share it with them in some way. I know my husband eats up my words of praise...I need to do this more for him in person.

Blessings to you this week as you work on your goals - rely on His strength alone!

Yes, it seems as though we've all had instances this week (mid-week) when satan stepped in. The good news is - it sounds like we all got it back on track!

I loved reading about your husband - what sweet words! Praying that the Lord continues to bless your marriage!

Oh... my... I am chilled to see that Satan brought so many of us (including myself) to our knees this week. But like you said, he will not win. Thank goodness God's grace and mercies are new EVERY DAY. Good luck to you this week!

What a wonderful paragraph about your hubby!

And I have often been around friends talking poorly about their husbands, or almost as bad, singing the praises of the "hotties" in Hollywood. I just say that they've got nothing on my guy!

I'm so glad your week ended so much better!

Blessings!

You are so sweet and loving. I love reading your blog. It warms my heart to know that there are still couples who want to finish the race together. Keep God in your heart even at the hardest times.
