Good Morning Lake Arthur

Osprey over Lake Arthur 5-7-11

We met the Zombeck’s at Lake Arthur this morning.  Osprey over Lake Arthur 5-7-115

We spotted this Osprey over the water.  Wish I could have captured a better shot of him.  He would occasionally hover, searching for his next meal.  Very neat!

John's catfish - Lake Arthur - 5-7-11

Of course… John caught one too.  Amanda did NOT.

When fishing was over we hit a geocache near the bike trails to drop off a travel bug we named Carpe Carp Diem.  (Sieze the Carp of the Day)  We cannot wait to see where it ends up!

The horses are fed and spoiled taboot.  Laundry is washing.  The tv is on anticipating the Derby.  Keith is settling in for his nap.  I have coupons to clip and errands to run.  This day feels much too rushed, but I sure am enjoying it!

Celebrating Today... Just because...

Each day is an opportunity to celebrate. If we miss it... then it's lost. I am a morning person. I like mornings because they are fresh... new... and full of opportunity. Each day I awaken knowing that the Lord has given me yet another chance to glorify Him and to make the most of my life and what blessings he has lavished upon me. The words memorized in my youth so often surface in the morning... "This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it."

This morning I am up early. I'm helping a friend before church. I will likely witness the rising of the sun this morning. Oh what a glorious site! It is cold and crisp outside. I shall step out into the world with a thankful heart and in search of opportunities to praise the Lord, to rejoice at his creation, and to seek the opportunity to enjoy life and all it has to offer.

Why I Love Jesus

Sunrise over the ocean - Hilton Head, SC - April 2007

My new blogger pal Joy over at Joy In The Journey has tagged me to complete the "Why I Love Jesus" me-me. So without further adieu, here it goes in no particular order:

  1. Jesus meets me every morning. For as long as I can remember I have loved mornings. There is something about the freshness of each new day. Have you ever seen the beauty of the rising sun? Mornings mean that the day is new. It's time to start over... to do better than yesterday. With a glimpse of the sun I am reminded of how he comes forth from his chamber bringing light to the world in which I live. Psalm 19 reminds us "The spacious heavens declare the glory of the Lord." My Grandmother used to sing to me in the morning... "This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it."

  2. Jesus is the perfect example. Would you like to converse with someone who has walked a mile in your shoes? God put himself in our shoes. Christ was born as a man and understands the limitations of such. He put himself before us in that he gave his life so we could one day enjoy life eternal in his presence. In our innermost relationships on Earth, especially marriage, we strive to put another's needs ahead of our own. Our human nature interferes and fills us with selfish needs, but Christ is anything BUT selfish. This is the example that God has demonstrated in the Trinity. The example is perfect.

  3. Jesus understands me. When we struggle, we seek the advice or consolation of one who 'understands.' Jesus came to Earth in the form of a man. He experienced life, temptation, and death in the most complex of forms. When we are struggling, we can rest assured that Jesus was there. He understands.

  4. Jesus took the nails for me. My imperfections abound. I am lazy. I am selfish. I make poor choices. These are only the beginning. Have you ever imagined the pain that your nails caused Christ? It's heart-wrenching to realize it. I'm ashamed to admit how painful my nails are and this is often what drives me to make positive changes.

  5. Jesus loves me. He didn't have to choose me. At times I feel so un-lovable. I am so blessed to have a relationship with him. Isn't it just like me to love someone who loves me first.

Oh, now am I supposed to tag some others to glorify God by telling us how they love Jesus... so here it goes:

Crazy Morning

I slept in! I hate that! I had plans for my early morning! Drat! This WILL NOT affect the rest of my day. Let me think back to the good things of the morning...

1) I showered last night so I was one step ahead already

2) Hubby shared a cup of coffee with me this morning

3) Our dove, who nests at the dining room window in the back of the house, came around front for a feast at the bird feeder near the front window. Crystal was ON FIRE!!! Keith said he thought she was going to bust through the screen. No - I don't think so, but she really did LOVE this birdy. She talks to it at both windows in a little chirpy voice. I so wish I could catch it on camera. It's adorable.

So there you have it... a late start, but not a bad one.

Another Standard Morning

Oh wow... winter is coming. Where has it been? It has finally found a freezing temperature. I wonder how long that will last? It's actually snowing! Now there's something we have hardly seen all winter. There is but a dusting of it out there. I have been carrying around my studded tires in the trunk, awaiting the fluffy white stuff. I hate to have them put on before I actually need them. I mean really... they are not good for the bare roads, and why wear them down if I don't need to. So, if it keeps coming, then perhaps I'll venture to the tire store to have them put on. Until then... I'll just keep plugging along.

This morning is a lonely one. Keith is still in bed. I did not want to wake him this morning on account of his having to close the store this evening. He's going to be up until after midnight, so I may as well let him rest. He did bring home a new coffee that we have got to try. Perhaps he will post a tasting on his blog sometime this week?

I'm feeling much better now. I still have the sniffles and a cough. The congestion is breaking up - finally. I hope that I can get to see Annabelle before long. I wonder if it is safe yet?

Well, I best get on my way to work. I will have several long days this week as I'm trying to get ahead. As usual, I'm trying to balance more than what is comfortable, but it has to be done.... THIS WEEK.
Have a nice day!
